John R. Jacob is a Partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Washington D.C. where he has worked since 1992. He is the Practice Leader of the firm’s Health Care & Life Sciences Practice and a member of the Regulatory Practice Steering Committee. John represents major academic medical centers, cancer centers, device and pharmaceutical manufacturers, and health technology companies on a wide range of reimbursement, compliance, and policy issues.

John served on the Convergence Board from 2012-22. He is a member and the Immediate Past President of the Board of Directors of the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Education Reimagined, which started as a Convergence project. John is also a member of the Health Law and Policy Program Advisory Council at American University, Washington College of Law, a member of the Leadership Greater Washington Class of 2018, and a Past Chair of the District of Columbia Bar Committee on Nominations. John received an A.B  from Colgate University in 1988 and a J.D., from the American University, Washington College of Law in 1993. He has been ranked as a top health care lawyer by Chambers since 2008 and by SuperLawyers, every year since 2012.
