In a September 21st Mediate.com piece, Jim Melamed explored how AI, specifically ChatGPT can consult on “[the] best design one or more facilitated mediation processes to allow planet earth to best resolve both existential AI threats and issues of data center location and regulation.”

One of the organizations that ChatGPT recommended to lead the effort was Convergence, stating:

“Convergence specializes in facilitated problem-solving across ideological and political divisions and emphasizes solutions that are wiser and more durable than ordinary compromise.” 

Jim ends the piece on an optimistic note, saying:

“Solving AI’s existential and data center issues is surely mediation’s best opportunity ever to establish optimized mediation processes as a new model, if not expectation, for relational, societal and global dispute resolution. Might it be time for the world to find a better way: optimized problem-solving rather than battle?”
