Transportation entrepreneur brings expertise in public service and public-private collaboration to help solve big challenges in public life
WASHINGTON, D.C., February 14, 2023 – Convergence Center for Policy Resolution, the leader in building collaborations across political, ideological, sectoral, and cultural divides to solve intractable issues, is pleased to announce that Selika Josiah Talbott has joined its board of directors.
With a history of professional collaboration and public service, Talbott is the founder of Autonomous Vehicle Consulting and Solutions 4 New Mobility Education, where she provides strategic advice to companies and organizations in the mobility space and educational materials for youth and adults on new mobility.
Talbott, who advocates that “transportation is mobility and mobility is freedom™,” is a leading industry voice for the future of transportation. She has been published in Forbes and Bloomberg and is a sought-after speaker and expert in industry reporting. Talbott had a renowned career in public service at the federal, state, and local levels. Talbott has served at the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and the State of New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, and held positions on various county public commissions.
Talbott joins the Board at an increasingly contentious time for America, when hyper-polarization threatens the future of democracy and the ability for citizens to work together across party lines on most pressing national issues.
“We have gotten increasingly toxic,” said Talbott. “When I hear about deep polarization on both sides, I know deep down that people do want the best for their constituents, but often political alignments are pulling us apart. Convergence can bring us together and from there solutions are possible.”
Talbott holds a J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law and a B.A. in political science with a minor in socio-legal studies from The State University of New York at Stony Brook. She also holds certifications in executive leadership from American University, diversity equity and inclusion from Cornell University, and corporate board readiness from Santa Clara University. Talbott is also a children’s book author; “Sammie and Sally Move Around Town,” the first book in the Sammie and Sally series about safe transportation, is now available on Amazon.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Selika to the Board,” said Convergence CEO David Eisner. “Her creative approach to problem solving and history of tackling big challenges will be a great contribution to the Convergence team as we ramp up our efforts to expand our evidence-based programming to overcome divisiveness and solve key challenges.”
