Hope isn’t simply something we feel. It’s something we create together.

Join us for a special virtual conversation, Beyond “Us” vs. “Them”: An Exploration of Hope & Collaboration.

Through personal stories from leaders who have participated in Convergence’s processes over the years, we’ll explore what happens when people move beyond their differences to discover common ground, how those experiences shaped the way they approach disagreement, and what gives them hope for the future.

Featured speakers include:

  • John Jacob – Moderating the conversation is John R. Jacob, Partner and Health Care & Life Sciences Practice Leader at Akin Gump. John served ten years on Convergence’s Board from 2012-2022 and will rejoin the Board this December. He also chairs Education Reimagined, which began as a Convergence project.
  • Stuart Butler – Former Convergence Board Member and current Scholar in Residence at Brookings Institution. Stuart led and participated in several Convergence projects across health care equity and long-term care financing, budget process reform, and economic mobility to name a few.
  • Lindsay Torrico – Convergence Board member and Senior Vice President of Bank Community Engagement at the American Bankers Association and Executive Director of the ABA Foundation. Lindsay participated in Convergence’s Building a Better Budget Process Collaborative.
  • Patrick T. Brown – Fellow in the Ethics and Public Policy Center’s Life and Family Initiative, where he develops pro-family economic policy. Patrick’s work spans housing, tax policy, social capital, and early childhood, and he advises federal and state officials. Patrick participated in Convergence’s Supports for Working Families Collaborative.
